(Un)habited

(Un)habited is a sound/video-based work, investigating a space which has a very particular relationship to presence, absence, and the relationship between the two. An entire district of a city in which people have built, often work in, but do not (and in many cases are legally not allowed to) actually reside in, or inhabit. A space which has been developed to the point where the natural landscape is completely stripped, signifying a significant human presence, yet does not allow for any prolonged physical human presence. What we’re left with is a sort of living ghost of humanity; a ghost that comes alive every day, only to die again each night.
